This humble little tree is a nostalgic throwback to my childhood. Back in the day when our finances were stretched thin, my sister and I implored our mom for a real Christmas tree. True to her loving nature, she ventured out and brought one home. It turned out to be the most bedraggled little tree I'd ever laid eyes on. When we placed the very first ornament on it, the poor thing bent under the weight, and my sister and I couldn't resist some good-natured teasing. Despite our teasing, this memory remains one of my favorites because, with a little care and attention, that tree transformed into something truly remarkable.
